A Beautiful Game Meets Beautiful Art

    Tuesday, 05 August 2014 09:43

There is nothing quite as stirring as a well executed tennis match between skilled opponents, it’s the kind of artistry that is reflected in the work of visual artist Brendan Murphy. For the first time ever the professional athlete turned artist is exhibiting his work in Toronto as part of the Rogers Cup. Brendan’s work carries a vibrant urgency reminiscent of Jean Michel Basquiat. He is able to capture the unique essence of the tennis stars depicted in his works through bold colour, movement and text.

His art caught the eye of one or the world’s best players, Novak Djokovic and not only have the two become close friends, proceeds from the work auctioned off for this event will go towards the Novak Djokovic Charitable Foundation. The other recipient is the Arthur Ashe Learning Center.

The 18 Floors Art Exhibition VIP soiree and art auction is tonight at the Cambria Studio in the heart of the Toronto’s design district. For further information on the show and artist CLICK HERE.
