    The Artistry Of...

The Artistry Of highlights, reflects, and celebrates. It mixes and shares language from different artistic disciplines; a musician is a poet; a singer’s voice is described as colorful, and an artist stuns and blinds your senses with the brilliance of their creative energy and expression.

I’ve met some bass players who have playing the cello in their music instruments played histories. A well-respected local player, Doug Innis did, Mingus did, and so does John Patitucci. I played it for a while too. Drawing the bow across the strings tugs and pulls at emotions and the player feels the deep vibrations from the instrument’s body itself. You literally hug a cello to play it.

Emotion and creativity are two elements in life that rarely start out in a neat or orderly fashion. They are, as so many will say, all over the place.
