First Listen: Andreas Varady - Come Together

16 year old Slovakian guitarist Andreas Varady is living the jazz dream. Opening up for George Benson, playing last year’s Monterrey and this month’s Montreal Jazz Festival, on the cover of Guitar Player magazine at the age of 14 and now releasing a brand new EP in anticipation of his album debut for Verve Records. The EP is called Come Together and both Quincy Jones and David Foster are its Executive Producers in fact, Varady is a Quincy Jones artist.

Founding member of Galactic, drummer, composer Stanton Moore has just released his 6th album as a leader called Conversations.  This time we hear Moore heading back to his roots, his state of Louisiana, his joy of playing in an intimate club sharing a quieter conversation within a trio setting.  Not blasting out the funk or massive grooves on some of the biggest stages of the world.

ECM will release another duo album featuring Keith Jarrett and Charlie Haden entitled Last Dance on June 17th. This time we hear a very low key intimate gathering of these two giants, recorded in Jarrett’s 18th century ‘cavelight’ farmhouse in New Jersey in the spring of 2007.
