The International Jazz Safari to Cuba

The International Jazz Safari to CubaWe’re back and we had an unbelievable time in Cuba and at the Havana Jazz Festival!

JAZZ.FM91 would like to thank all of the participating donors who joined us on the very first International Jazz Safari to Cuba! We would also like to thank our very special guests and guides, Jane Bunnett and Larry Cramer, who taught us about the music and culture of Cuba!

The International Jazz Safari group and JAZZ.FM91 visited Varadero for three nights and traveled to Havana for a four night stay to experience the Havana Jazz Festival. Some of the highlights of the trip include…

- Jane Bunnett, Larry Cramer and Ross Porter presenting Chucho Valdes with his very first Grammy from 1979 at the Teatro Mella

- Listening to Chico O’Farrill, composer, arranger and pianist and son of the great Arturo O’Farrill, at the Teatro Mella

- Seeing Colin Hunter and Joe Sealy play at Casa de la Cultura de Plaza

- Experiencing the vibrant culture of Cuba and the exquisite historical architecture of Old Havana

- An exclusive end of trip impromptu performance at the Melia Habana piano bar with Jane Bunnett (on flute), Larry Cramer (on trumpet) and special guest Maestro Guillermo Rubalcaba (on piano).

Thank you to Sunwing Vacations for making our stay in Varadero at the Melia Varadero, and our stay in Havana at the Melia Habana, so comfortable and welcoming!
