On August 18, 2014, one of the most recognizable voices in television history, Don Pardo, passed away at the age of 96. Pardo spent 60 years working for NBC starting on NBC Radio in 1944.

The knock on these streaming services has always been around the lack of  control that these services afford artists and the limited scope of the music that pops up in your “individualized” stream.

The Canadian National Institute for the Blind Scholarship was established by JAZZ.FM91 in memory of Jeff Healey, following his passing in 2008. The annual award is given to a visually impaired student who is pursuing music education at the post-secondary level.
