    Shirley Camia's Top 3 - Weekend of February 3rd

It’s Friday and that means Community Arts Reporter Shirley Camia shares her top arts and entertainment picks for the weekend.

HIGHER STATES: LAWREN HARRIS AND HIS AMERICAN CONTEMPORARIES

We think about the McMichael as being the ultimate purveyors of the art collective, The Group of Seven.

So, combine that with the popularity of Steve Martin's Lawren Harris exhibit at the AGO last year, and the fact that a Harris painting just broke the Canadian art auction sales record... let's just say Lawren Harris’s work continues to inspire.

Higher States: Lawren Harris and His American Contemporaries opens this Saturday, February 4th and runs until September 4th. All the details at mcmichael.com.

    TORONTO LIGHT SHOW

For the next month and a half, the Distillery District is being transformed into an open air gallery in the first ever Toronto Light Show.

Seventeen different installations from 14 artists are lighting the night, from dusk until 11pm on the weekends.

So get outside and cloak yourself in a wash of light. Torontolightfest.com has all the info.

    HARRY MANX AND FRIENDS

Tonight, February 3rd, Harry Manx returns to Toronto to perform his unique sonic blend of blues-meets-raga.

Joining him onstage are some of Toronto’s finest musicians: Grammy Award winning guitarist and vocalist Kevin Breit and drummer/percussionist Davide DiRenzo.

Harry Manx and Friends is at 8pm at Koerner Hall. Tickets at performance.rcmusic.ca.
