Art can be transformative, it can act as a social agitator, it can help the artist work through their demons, it can inspire dialogue.

Two artist are taking their very personal stories, stories with universal resonance -- and triggering dialogue. From British Columbia, native artist, Carey Newman with the incredibly evocative Witness Blanket and the cultural agitation of Columbia University student, Emma Sulkowicz’s, Carry the Weight. Both pieces create art with massive social implications.

For more information on Emma Sulkowicz' project check out this article from New York Magazine. To learn more about Carey Newman's work, visit his webiste HERE or follow him on Twitter @blueravenart.
