    Music Memory - Conrad Gayle

Music Memory is sponsored by the Alzheimer Society of Toronto, offering the "Music For Memory Project":  a program based on the effects of music and stimulation on people with dementia, by providing them with iPods containing personalized music. For more information, visit alz.to.

This week's "memory" is from long-time listener and pianist Conrad Gayle.

“I want to share my musical moment on how I came to love Jazz. At a special education class in middle school, there were records and tapes that I would listen to.  One of the records was of Mel Torme singing a medley of Gershwin songs. It was thanks to two Russian Jewish men - Mel Torme and George Gershwin - that I fell in love with Jazz.  A love that stays with me to this day.”
