Music Memory - Kevin Hopper

Music Memory is sponsored by the Alzheimer Society of Toronto, offering the "Music For Memory Project":  a program based on the effects of music and stimulation on people with dementia, by providing them with iPods containing personalized music. For more information, visit

This week's Music Memory comes from Kevin Hopper. Kevin is a long-time listener and avid Jazz fan who also works as a voice artist, specializing in imitations.

“One of my very first recollections as a small child was sitting in our living room listening to music with my father. Murray Hopper was a jazz musician and great lover of this musical form, and in playing this music, my Dad taught me to differentiate sounds. By the age of 4, I already knew the difference between a trumpet and a trombone, or a clarinet and a saxophone. (Of course, I was listening to Bix, Louis, Woody Herman, The Dorsey Brothers, etc!)

I attribute this experience (and my Father, of course) to my work as a voice artist today. Sound and audio is how I learn, and I can't think of a more pleasant way of doing so! Thanks Dad!

And thank YOU, for one of the greatest Jazz stations in the world! Murray would have loved it!”

Thank you to all of you who contributed during our Early Spring Campaign.

You are the reason we are able to return to our award-winning programming.
