First Listen: Keith Jarrett - Concerts Bregenz Munchen

He learned the language of the piano when he learned to speak. As Keith Jarrett says, “it’s a more complete, more subtle, more vital language than words…  music involves a greater responsibility than words.” He asks you to respect the improvisation process and not just hear, but listen.

Its been an abundant year for the Keith Jarrett fans of the world, with today’s First Listen we’re happy to add to these treasures with his latest CD release of Concerts, Bregenz, Munchen. Bregenz recorded on May 28th of 1981 and Munchen recorded  just five days later.

These solo live pieces were completed just six years after his mega selling The Koln Concert in 1975 and when you listen, you hear Jarrett in peak form.  And for a Jarrett fan, it allows for all of Jarrett's solo piano releases for ECM to now be available on CD.

Most of the tunes from these 3 CD’s are in long form, however for today’s first listen, we’ve chosen the track Heartland  from Keith Jarrett Concerts Bergenz Munchen.
