First Listen: Humber Studio Jazz Ensemble - Angel Eyes

Every Friday, Brad Barker goes through the pile of CD’s on his desk and his hard drive to find a brand new song to play for you.  It’s called your “First Listen”

Our First Listen this week comes to us from the Humber Studio Jazz Ensemble. There is a lot of inspired music being made from the folks at Humber, which boasts an incredible faculty in Colleen Allen, Dave Restivo, Nancy Walker and Michael McClennan, to name a few.

Back in the spring of last year, under the direction of Humber’s music program leader, Denny Christianson, the Jazz Studio Ensemble headed into the studio to put a unique group of tunes together to showcase its talented students. The album Seven Doors was the result.

Today we focus on the song Angel Eyes with features a beautiful arrangement by Hilario Duran and showcases Vocal student Lydia Persaud. Lydia was at the station earlier in the year to sit down with Brad Barker for a Jazzology interview.

Congrats on another terrific year Humber Studio Jazz Ensemble, our First Listen for this week, “Angel Eyes” on JAZZ.FM91.
