First Listen: Duncan Hopkins - Bleak Midwinter

British born bassist and composer Duncan Hopkins has been a mainstay on the Toronto music scene for many years.

Along with supporting Diana Krall, Mark Murphy and Peter Appleyard (to name a few) Duncan has been a long-time member of The Canadian Jazz Quartet.

An accomplished composer and arranger Duncan's latest release is in some ways a follow-up to his Red and Brassy recording from 2005, with a combination of both the jazz tradition and the British Brass Band tradition.

Bleak Midwinter combines 4 new originals and new arrangements of winter classics
