First Listen: Randy Brecker - Randy Pop

Beginning in the 60s, Randy Brecker distinguished himself as a first-call studio musician who could play any music a producer or artist needed, and on his new recording Randy Pop he re-visits some of the tunes he played on during his career. James Brown, Bruce Springsteen, Paul Simon and Donald Fagen.

Recorded at the Blue Note in NYC, the tunes were arranged by Kenny Werner and the album features David Sanchez, Adam Rogers, John Patitucci, Nate Smith and Werner himself – with a special guest appearance by vocalist and daughter Amanda Brecker.

Todd Rundgren’s "Hello it’s Me" is your First Listen for September 25.
