    Vincent Wolfe at Jazz Bistro

    Tuesday, May 20 2014, 8:00pm - 11:00pm
Canadian crooner Vincent Wolfe has spent the last dozen years carving out a reputation as one of the most original and gifted interpreters of song on the recent jazz/cabaret scene. His captivating warmth and vocal expressiveness have been described by Manhattan Transfer founding member Laurel Massé as “somewhere between Chet Baker and Mel Tormé… a wonderful place to be!” With three critically acclaimed albums (Trust the Vibe, Until Tomorrow, Weaver of Dreams) and hundreds of club, concert and festival dates under his belt, Vincent has built a reputation as a charismatic performer with a fast-growing fan base. Stateside, he’s performed at prestigious jazz venues like Blues Alley, Sculler’s, The Trafalmadore Café and Chene Park Amphitheatre as an opening act for the legendary jazz-soul diva Jean Carne. In 2008, he made his cabaret debut in New York City at Helen’s Hideaway Room, and was nominated for a prestigious MAC Award. He has performed in Quebec City, Europe, South America and spent two years working on the famed Cunard ships, traveling the globe with a seven-piece salon orchestra, and performing with jazz trio. Currently he’s singing with two of the top big band orchestras in Canada, as well as continuing to tour with his sold-out jazz and cabaret shows. Vincent will delve into his “Jazz: Broadway to Hollywood” repertoire, which will feature some of his favourite music from that era. Putting his warm, velvet-voiced spin on a blend of beloved standards and lesser-known gems, Vincent is joined by Peter Hill on piano and Jordan O’Connor on the bass. “There’s a kind of intimate quality to his voice. An honesty that is really remarkable and mellifluous…and rich.” ROBERT ENRIGHT – GLOBE & MAIL Vincent Wolfe – vocals Peter Hill – piano Jordan O’Connor – bass Music Starts at 7:30pm Music Charge $15/$12(adv)
