B2 Duo at Jazz Bistro

Sunday, May 18 2014, 12:30pm - 2:30pm
B2 is a unique piano/vocal duo offering fresh and interesting takes on classic repertoire from the Great American Songbook. Comprised of vocalist Bill MacLean, and pianist Brian Stevens, B2 has performed at jazz clubs, concerts, private parties and fundraisers. Their CD, B2 “Live” showcases their distinctive approach to timeless classics such as When You Wish Upon a Star, and That’s Life. Bill MacLean has been a part of Toronto’s folk/acoustic music scene for many years, as a singer/songwriter, guitarist, and bassist. His solo career saw the release of A Frame of Time, which features the self-penned song, Lay Me Down Easy, now part of the B2 repertoire. MacLean is also the bassist for the Ian White Band (Wonder Grows). The inheritance of his mother’s collection of Frank Sinatra recordings opened his musical eyes and ears to an entirely new direction of vocal performance. An appearance with the Mississauga Swing Band at an open mic concert demonstrated that Bill is as comfortable fronting a swing band, as performing solo with his guitar. Performing with Brian Stevens has allowed MacLean to explore this vast American Songbook collection with a new perspective. Together they have created a polished and consistently elegant sound that has charmed audiences wherever they have performed. Brian Stevens – A composer, pianist, writer and conductor, Brian is currently the Music Facilitator at Faith United Church. He holds a music degree from St. Francis Xavier University and a Certificate in Youth Ministry and Masters of Divinity from the Atlantic School of Theology. Brian is the co-founder of the Charlottetown Music Studio, Charlottetown Chamber Music Series, Triple Threats Musical Theatre School, Theatre Festival 1999 and the Georgetown Theatre Festival and also produced the 1991 Festival of The Arts. He spent a summer at the Stephenville Festival as Musical Director of Chorus Line and pianist the Patsy Cline Show. His credits also include five seasons as pianist, musical director and orchestra musician with the Charlottetown Festival. Television and video credits include Sounds of the Island, Canada 125 Television Special, IWK Telethon, and Word Monster. MUSIC STARTS AT 12:30pm MUSIC CHARGE $TBA
