Mark Masri with added special guest Kellylee Evans

    Saturday, March 12 2011, 7:30pm - 10:00pm
One of those rare finds with an astounding sensuous voice, smoky intensity and jaw dropping range, Mark Masri delivers emotion in six languages. Part Andrea Bocelli and part Luther Vandross, fans of Josh Groban and The Canadian Tenors will definitely want to catch this rising star! Mark Masri has the voice of an angel, the looks of a heartthrob and the soul of an artist, Masri is poised to become Canada’s next “popera” vocal sensation. Masri has gained a reputation for powerful and soulful music with timeless appeal. He’s caught the attention of, and collaborated with, the likes of David Foster, Amy Sky, Jim Brickman, RyanDan and Stephan Moccio. In addition to his astounding and sensuous tenor vocals, Mark is a piano player, songwriter and producer. He performs a virtuosic array of songs in six languages with poise and a warm stage presence. Kellylee Evans has a soulful approach to her R&B-inflected grooves that welcomes the listener in like an old friend. By combining jazz, folk and R&B, Evans offers a diverse palette of musical tones with modest sophistication and complexity. Evans, a 2007 Juno and Gemini nominee, has been steadily earning accolades for her soulful music and charismatic performances since she was awarded second place in the Thelonious Monk Jazz Vocals Competition in 2004 by judges Quincy Jones and Dee Dee Bridgewater. She has toured with such luminaries as Tony Bennett, George Benson, Maceo Parker, Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings, Chris Botti and Derek Trucks. Nina, her 2010 release, was recorded in France and is a tribute to beloved jazz vocalist and pianist Nina Simone. The critically acclaimed album reached the top of the iTunes Jazz charts soon after its release as is nominated for a 2010 JUNO.
