JPEC Gala with the JPEC Jazz Orchestra Featuring RANEE LEE

    Sunday, October 03 2010, 7:30pm - 9:00pm
The Jazz Performance and Education Centre (JPEC) is proud to announce their second annual JAZZ GALA EVENING. The concert event, a tribute to the Honourable Warren K. Winkler, Chief Justice of Ontario will introduce the new 19 piece JPEC JAZZ ORCHESTRA uniting Canada’s top jazz artists, award winners and educators, a veritable who's who among jazz musicians. The featured soloist, jazz diva RANEE LEE, Order of Canada, enjoys a successful career as one of Canada's most popular jazz vocalists and recording artists - an award winning songwriter, educator, saxophonist, actress and proud author of children's books. Emerging Jazz artists, many of whom study with JPEC orchestra members will perform throughout the evening in the lobby thus merging jazz educators, performers and students for one stellar evening. Equally committed to education, building new audiences and fostering the next generation of talent by training and mentoring young musicians, The JPEC JAZZ ORCHESTRA artists will share their ideas and resources creating a stronger presence for jazz and creative music in Canada. Founded by Raymond and Rochelle Koskie and officially incorporated in 2008, the Jazz Performance and Education Centre (JPEC) is an organization of business people, musicians and arts professionals. These passionate individuals recognized the need for a full time jazz venue Toronto. A planned first-class, multi-purpose facility will feature performances by distinguished local, national and international jazz talent, educational programming, recording facilities and a Hall of Fame and Archives encompassing and preserving Canada’s outstanding jazz heritage and tradition. The facility will enhance Toronto’s reputation as one of the leading cities in North America to experience live jazz.
