    Robert LePage Awarded 10th Glenn Gould Prize

    Known as a playwright, actor and director of theatre, opera, circus and film, Robert LePage has received international acclaim for his work and his blending of disparate media to form cohesive stories.

    In recognition of his work, LePage has been awarded the 10th Glenn Gould Prize which honours a living individual for a "unique lifetime contribution that has enriched the human condition through the arts." “Robert Lepage is an artist whose dreams have expanded the realm of possibility and whose work transcends all boundaries," said Glenn Gould Foundation Executive Director Brian Levine, "His work illuminates the human condition in that same sprit of innovation and idealism that motivated Glenn Gould.  We feel his selection as Laureate marks a new milestone in the history of The Glenn Gould Prize and The Glenn Gould Foundation.”

    LePage's directorial work has taken him to stages across the world including Japan, France, England and Spain. As a producer, LePage has worked in all forms of media including Peter Gabriel's Secret World Tour and Cirque du Soleil productions.

    LePage will receive $50,000 (CAD) as well as the Glenn Gould Prize statue. He will also have the opportunity to choose a young artist to receive the Glenn Gould Protege Prize of $15,000 (CAD).

    The jury for the Tenth Glenn Gould Prize included producer Bob Ezrin, filmmaker Deepa Mehta, author John Ralston Saul, artist Patti Smith, arts philanthropist Sir David Tang and opera singer Rolando Villazon.
