    Reg Presley (1941-2013)

Reg Presley, the lead singer of the Troggs passed away this week at 71.

Hugely influential, their version of the Chip Taylor penned Wild Thing served as a forerunner to the 60s garage scene and later was cited as an influence on proto-punk musicians including Iggy Pop, the Buzzcocks and the Ramones.

Wild thing topped the U.S. charts for the Troggs and their follow-up single "With a Girl Like You" hit number 1 in four countries.

Presley, born Reg Ball, founded the Troggs in 1964, he adopted the name presley at the suggestion of their manager. The band were together (more or less) from 1964 until Presley retired from the music industry in 2011.
