The Walrus is Coming to TV

One of Canada's few magazines dedicated to long-form current-affairs journalism, The Walrus, will be coming to the small screen.

The magazine, which has won more than 60 gold and silver national magazine awards since its launch in 2003, inked a deal with HIFIHD to produce a number of high-definition documentaries based on articles that appear in the magazine.

The fourteen documentaries, which range from 8-15 minutes, began airing this week on HIFI's "EQHD", their "ideas and culture" channel.

More films are in the works as part of a deal that Walrus publisher Shelley Ambrose calls "a natural pairing."
