Toronto, Ontario (March 17th, 2011) – JAZZ.FM91 announced the 2011 lineup of JAZZ LIVES, an annual concert and fundraiser created in 2005 to spotlight the leading jazz musicians of the past and present. JAZZ LIVES will be held on Thursday, May 5th, 2011 at Convocation Hall at 8:00 p.m.

This year, JAZZ LIVES will celebrate JAZZ.FM91’s 10th Anniversary as an all-jazz station. In addition to its annual lineup of international and local jazz giants and future stars, JAZZ LIVES 2011 will include special segments to recognize and celebrate this special achievement. Each year this live concert is recorded for future broadcast to one of North America’s largest jazz listening audiences.

“We’re very excited to be marking this milestone year with a special presentation of JAZZ LIVES,” said Ross Porter, President and CEO of JAZZ.FM91. “The talent performing at this year’s concert is truly a celebration of jazz past, present and future.”

Headlining this year’s concert are three-time Grammy nominated vocalist Karrin Allyson, trumpet and flugelhorn master, and Grammy winner, Randy Brecker, and legendary jazz organist Joey DeFrancesco. Joining them in the JAZZ LIVES lineup are musical director Mark McLean (drums), Robi Botos (piano and keyboard), Marc Rogers (bass), Kelly Jefferson (saxophone), Bill McBirnie (flute), and the JAZZ.FM91 Youth Big Band under the direction of Jules Estrin.

More than just a radio station, the JAZZ.FM91 enterprise is Canada’s only 24/7 jazz broadcaster and registered not-for-profit charitable arts organization dedicated to e nriching the cultural, educational and community experience of their audience. Proceeds from JAZZ LIVES help fund JAZZ.FM91’s youth education programs and scholarships that benefit thousands of promising young students and emerging artists each year.
