Trio of Unlikely Collaborators Come Together

Three musicians from across the musical spectrum have come together to release an album which will be out next month. Pianist Jon Batiste, Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, and prolific bass player/producer Bill Laswell will be releasing The Process on Laswell's M.O.D. Technologies label, November 4th.

“This recording experience and meeting of musicians from fairly diverse backgrounds and histories began as an idea. The original idea was to film unfamiliar musicians playing together in a room with no preconceived direction. Over time it began to transform into making a record,” said Laswell in a press release about the record.

Smith viewed the project as a challenge, saying “I wanted to take a risk and be inspired by other musicians who feel the same.“

The three principal players on the album are joined by Tunde Adebimpe (singer of the critically acclaimed band TV On The Radio), the Wu-Tang Clan’s Killah Priest, Toshinori Kondo on trumpet, Peter Apfelbaum on flute and saxophones ad guitarist Dominic James.

Samples of the album album are currently available for streaming on M.O.D. Technologies' website HERE.
