In the spring of 1972, the Count Basie Orchestra was touring in Europe. Two concerts were filmed, possibly for TV, and are up as one at YouTube. The first took place in Copenhagen. As best I can tell, the band featured Paul Cohen, Sonny Cohn, George Minger and Waymon Reed (tp); Al Grey, Mel Wanzo, Bill Hughes and John Watson, Sr. (tb); Eric Dixon (fl,ts); Curtis Peagler and Bobby Plater (as); Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis (ts); John C. Williams (bar); Count Basie (p); Freddie Green (g); Norman Keenan (b); Harold Jones (d) and Eddie "Cleanhead" Vinson and Joe Williams (v).

The band in the second half was recorded at the Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen in 1976 and seems to have featured Sonny Cohn, George "Pete" Minger, Bobby Mitchell, Jack Feyerman (tp); John Thomas (tp,flhrn); Al Grey, Curtis Fuller, Mel Wanzo (tb) Bill Hughes (b-tb); Bobby Plater (as,cl); Danny Turner (as); Jimmy Forrest (ts); Eric Dixon (ts,fl-1); Charlie Fowlkes (bar); Count Basie (p); Freddie Green (g); John Duke (b) and Butch Miles (d). Dig the spectacular tenor sax solo by Jimmy Forrest!

Get that hot cocoa ready. Here's more than two hours of the Count Basie Orchestra in Copenhagen in 1972 and 1976...
