    Mose Allison: Favorite Tracks

Screen Shot 2016-11-16 at 3.50.00 PM
Yesterday, with the passing of jazz-folk pianist Mose Allison on Nov. 15, I posted a remembrance and my 2010 JazzWax interview in its entirety. Today, I want to feature 10 favorite Mose clips, so we all can appreciate how important and special he was. [Photo above, from left, pianist George Wallington, pianist Mose Allison, tenor saxophonist Lester Young, pianist Mary Lou Williams, tenor saxophonist Charlie Rouse and bassist Oscar Pettiford c. 1958].

    Here are the clips:

    Here's Parchman Farm (1957)...

    Here's Crepuscular Air (1957)...

Here's Trouble in Mind (1957), with Mose on trumpet...

Here's I Told Ya I Love Ya, Now Get Out! (1958)

    Here's The Kissin' Bug (1958)...

    Here's Strange (1959)...

    Here's Groovin' High (1959)...

Here's Your Mind Is on Vacation (1976)...
