Hugh Masekela is, without question, South Africa's most famous musical import. His music went beyond the borders of Jazz and World Music and with hits like "Grazin' in the Grass" and "Bring Him Back Home", he touched a generation of music lovers as a whole.

He is a two-time Grammy winner, has played stages the world over, from Carnegie Hall in New York, to the Royal Festival in London, and has shared the stage with everyone from Wynton Marsalis to U2.

On Thursday, August 8, trumpeter, writer, arranger, and band leader Bruce Cassidy leads an all star band in tribute to the music of Hugh Masekela at Hugh's Room, as a part of JAZZ.FM's first annual World Music Festival. On Monday, July 29th, Bruce joined heather to talk about the upcoming show and the importance of South African and Masekela's music.
