Interview - Jason Moran

Jason Moran is a musician that is hard to pinpoint, and that’s just they way he likes it. A pianist that combines stride-piano styling’s as easily as he combines hip-hop and avant-guard.

In 2011 he was a three-time winner in the 59th annual Down Beat Critics poll (artist, album and pianist), he’s a MacArthur Fellow and on June 26th he threw a dance party using the music of Fats Waller as the backdrop to the festivities.

Jason stopped by the JAZZ.FM91 tent on show day to talk to Brad about the project, going to the same school as Robert Glasper and Kendrick Scott and his new record with Charles Lloyd.
