Interview - Maceo Parker

It is almost impossible to separate which came first: Maceo or the Funk. Maceo Parker is arguably the most famous living saxophone player today, at the centre of James Brown’s sound, known for his powerful signature solos, and adding is essence to the works of everyone from George Clinton and P-Funk, to Ani DeFranco, De La Soul, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Prince.

In his new book “98% Funky Stuff: My Life in Music”, Parker takes us down his various musical roads, with insights and stories from a legendary career that spans 7 decades.

Maceo called into Wake Up! to talk to Heather about his career and the new book.
