Interview - Brian Barlow

William James Basie was considered Jazz royalty for more than just his moniker.  Through his years as one of the pre-eminent big band leaders, he hosted and mentored some of the finest players of the style:  Lester young, Freddie Green, Clark Terry, Thad Jones and more!  He changed the way many fans heard Big Bands and his name became synonymous with the Big Band Sound.

So, if you’re going to pay tribute to him, the only way to do it is by getting the cream of the crop, and we’ve got it with what many consider the pre-eminent big band in the country:  the Brian Barlow Big Band.  They take the stage on Monday, November 12th, at the Old Mill Inn as part of our Sound of Jazz Concert Series.

Brian dropped in to talk about Basie, the upcoming show and his big band with Heather.
