ARTS TORONTO - April 22nd Edition

This Sunday from 8-9 a.m., it’s another edition of Arts Toronto with your host Mark Wigmore on Jazz FM91

This episode:

Pianist, composer, singer, producer and recording artist Michael Kaeshammer sits down in the Jazz FM91 studios for a candid interview about his celebrated music career. The stride, boogie-woogie, blues and jazz virtuoso has enjoyed seven Juno nominations during his twenty-plus years in the business, and picked up four Western Canada Music Awards. After moving from Germany to Victoria, British Columbia as a teen, Michael hits the clubs and bars of western Canada, wowing audiences big and small with his speed and dexterity on the keys. His first few albums showcased his raw talent as a pianist, but future efforts displayed his prowess as a composer, producer, vocalist and collaborator. Michael produced the Juno-nominated No Filter in 2016, successfully taking the correlating tour to China. On Friday April 20th, 2018, he released his latest, Something New. It features 10 original songs that were all recorded at the Esplanade Studio in the heart of New Orleans’ Treme district. On the record with Michael, Cyril Neville of The Neville Brothers, The Metres bassist George Porter Jr. & Chuck Leavell from the Allman Brothers and the Rolling Stones. The record also features guest appearances from Randy Bachman and Colin James. Something New may very well be Michael’s most ambitious recording to date. Michael sits down with Mark in the Jazz FM91 studios.
