    ARTS TORONTO - MAY 28th EDITION


    This Sunday from 8-9am, it’s Arts Toronto with your host Mark Wigmore on JAZZ.FM91.


    This episode:

    Rebecca Northan is the creator and lead actress in the international theatre hit, ‘Blind Date’. Her improvised stage romance, that puts an actual audience member on stage with her, returns to Tarragon Theatre on May 30th. Mark Wigmore welcomes Rebecca to the Jazz FM91 studios for a candid conversation about dating, improvisation and the idea that we are all loveable.

    And Garvia Bailey continues here fantastic series, “Giant Steps”. This week she celebrated one of the great modern jazz voices, Gregory Porter.

    And Jazz FM91 will take part in “Doors Open Toronto” for the very first time this weekend. Our digs at 4 Pardee Avenue in Liberty Village join a list of 150 spaces that will open doors to the public for the 18th annual edition of the event. It’s a rare opportunity to see inside a collection of some of the most architecturally, historically, culturally and socially significant buildings in the GTA. Doors Open is enhanced this year by music programming and walking tours. Mark Wigmore catches up with Kerri MacDonald, the supervisor of programming City Cultural Events with the City of Toronto.

    And the TD Toronto Jazz Festival is just around the corner and the team here at Jazz FM91 are getting into the spirit. This week, Afternoon Drive’s Brad Barker welcomed local guitar hero-gone-international jazz axe superstar Matthew Stevens to the studios. On Arts Toronto hear a portion of the interview and a live performance ahead of his Jazz Festival appearance.
