Thursday, 15 December 2016 14:16

A year after the release of “Oscar, With Love”, Kelly Peterson sits down with Mark Wigmore for a preview of Oscar Peterson tributes and Galas that have been announced for 2017.

2017 is turning out to be another dazzling year for Oscar Peterson fans around the globe. A fresh set of concerts and galas have been announced that feature some of the most accomplished musicians on the planet.

In 2015, the legend’s loving widow Kelly Peterson self-produced a 3 CD set of new recordings featuring some of the world’s greats paying tribute to Oscar Peterson, from Kenny Barron and Chic Corea to Robi Botos and Hiromi. The album focused on compositions penned by Oscar himself.

Culminating with the release, a onetime only concert at The Royal Conservatory’s Koerner Hall, a performance that featured many of the musicians who contributed to ambitious recording.

We now know the love for Oscar Peterson will continue full throttle in 2017, with concerts in Niagara on the Lake, Chicago, Brazil and a gala presentation in Ottawa for the Canadian Sesquicentennial.

Kelly Peterson joined Senior Arts Editor Mark Wigmore at the JAZZ.FM91 studios for a special sneak preview.
