Adam took time to discuss his experience with the Jazzology program and his more recent musical activities:

    1) Describe your experience with the Jazzology program. What was your favourite aspect?

Overall, I had a positive experience with the program. My favourite aspect was sharing music.

    2) What is your strongest memory of the Jazzology program? Are there any funny stories or incidents that come to mind?

My strongest memory was checking out the extensive music library at JAZZ.FM91.

    3) Would you recommend this experience to other young musicians? Why?

I would recommend this experience to younger musicians as it always important to be able to discuss and express your music in conversation and it is inspiring to hear your voice on the radio.

    4) How has this experience helped in your personal and professional development?

This experience has helped my professional development as I received lots of positive feedback from people I would meet after that enjoyed hearing the music I was sharing - Tony Williams Lifetime/Miles Davis - live at Fillmore East/ Mwandishi. This encouraged me to always stay connected to the music I feel strongest about.

    5) This program is made possible by our generous donors and sponsors who strongly believe in the importance of arts education initiatives. If you had the opportunity to thank them in person, what would you say?

I would thank them for their contribution and encourage them to continue to support the arts and art education as it essential for our society.

    6) Why is music education important?

Music education is important as it is an art form that enriches people’s lives.

    7) Since participating in the program, what have you been doing?

Performing and teaching professionally. I have been actively performing in the Canadian music scene along with collaborations and performances in Europe and Seoul, Korea. I am currently dividing my time between Toronto and London, England and will always be deep in the artistic practice, learning new musical forms, percussion instruments and rhythmic languages.

    8) What music are you listening to at the moment that you find particularly inspiring?

Lately I have been listening to all types of music from around the world from traditional to modern forms from all cultures. Some of my favourite music is Indian classical, African folk and pop, gnawa music, afro cuban bata, beguine, jazz, hip hop, folk, electronic,  etc.  I am all over the place with my listening – there’s so much to check out.

    9) What are your plans for the future?

I plan to continue to walk the artistic path, learn and contribute to the positivity in the world through music.

    10) How can people learn more about you and your activities?
