Meghan Gilhespy

Twenty-four-year-old modern jazz vocalist Meghan Gilhespy is an innovative voice from the diverse Vancouver jazz scene. She has recently completed her debut album, Vive Le Tour, which features pioneering contemporary vocal jazz. Meghan toured British Columbia with her trio promoting her album, and was interviewed on CBC Radio.    

Meghan has recently moved from Vancouver to Toronto this September to start her Masters Degree in Jazz Performance at the University of Toronto.

As a driving force of modern vocal jazz in Vancouver, Meghan has performed in various jazz venues, including but not limited to Vancouver’s Cellar Jazz Club, Tangent Café, the Media Club, The Emerald, as well as Presentation House. Since moving to Toronto, she has performed with her own quartet at the Rex.

Meghan holds a Bachelor Degree in Music from Capilano University. Through Capilano’s premier vocal jazz choir ‘NiteCap’ under the direction of Rejean Marois, Meghan has soloed alongside artists such as Jason Marsalis, Randy Brecker, Jean-Michel Pilc, Mike Murley, Ian Froman, and many more. Through Jared Burrows’ ‘Combo Choir’, Meghan performed improvised film scores with Bill Frisell.

She currently composes, performs, and teaches voice and piano privately. Her album is available on iTunes, Bandcamp, and Spotify.
