2012 Emmy Nominees Announced

The nominees are in for the 64th annual Emmy Awards, taking place September 23rd. This year's hopefuls are a mix of old and new with Emmy regulars such as Mad Men (17 nominations) and Modern Family (14 nominations) up against newcomers including American Horror Story (also 17 nominations) and HBO's new comedies Girls and Veep.

Other nominations include Zooey Deschanel for best actress in a comedy for her role in New Girl, Alec Baldwin as best actor for 30 Rock and Kristen Wiig as best supporting actress for her final season of Saturday Night Live.

A number of Canadians are up for awards this year. Michael J. Fox is up for 2 Emmys for his guest spots on Curb Your Enthusiasm and The Good Wife, Torontonian Will Arnett for his recurring role in 30 Rock and voice actor Maurice LaMarche for his work in Futurama. Lorne Michaels (creator of SNL) and Semi Chellas from Mad Men are up for screenwriting awards.
