    Digital Content Developer

    We have an opportunity to grow the digital efforts and digital brand of JAZZ.FM91 in a small environment where your contribution will have a big impact.  The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of our website and social media, while also being key to setting the overall short- and long-term digital strategy.   On a daily basis, you will be crafting content and graphics for our website, editing video footage from our live concerts, tweeting, uploading to our Facebook page and working with other departments to help direct our digital impact and presence across projects and departments.    This position serves as a hub between several departments, and the successful candidate needs to be comfortable wearing many hats.

    A results oriented individual with solid digital experience, you are comfortable with technology, words and numbers, have a high attention to detail and can work independently and with others.  You are a quick learner and take pride in your work.  You are nimble and willing to change as technologies develop and you are sufficiently curious to constantly be looking for a new way to tackle a problem.

    Ultimately, your goal is to help us reach our vision of being Canada’s pre-eminent jazz station and an essential broadcaster of jazz in its various forms, enriching the cultural, educational and community experience of our listening audience in a world where technology is challenging media’s relevance.

    Primary Responsibilities:
    •    Development and implementation of online communications action plans that promote the initiatives and goals of the station, including using digital assets to highlight prominent interviews, concerts, etc., to bring the world of jazz to our listeners and donors.
    •    Oversee, edit and upgrade the website, online and social media assets, including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
    •    Analyze and monitor social media trends and media placements to measure effectiveness. Use Google Analytics to understand our fundraising campaign performance and overall traffic patterns to optimize approach.
    •    Track email segment open rates, clicks and conversion rates across fundraising campaigns and issues.  As well as craft a weekly newsletter that is sent to our listeners, The Jazz Messenger.
    •    Assist the leadership team with developing, reviewing and updating the digital strategy, as needed to ensure we are leveraging industry best practices.
    •    Provide support and assistance with planning, promoting and implementing fundraising campaigns and prioritized activities.
    •    Proofread all communications before distributing or posting.

    What we are looking for in a candidate:
    •    At least three years of work experience in a multi-media digital role, preferably:
    o    Web Development;
    o    Graphic Design
    •    At least two years radio experience is preferred;
    •    Experience in multi-media, multi-platform, integrated communications environment;
    •    Familiarity and / or basic experience with a broad variety of software tools and/or best practices needed to effectively manage a digital organization, including Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Wordpress, Joomla, HTML, SASS/CSS, PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, SEO/SEM, ecommerce solutions and more;
    •    Solid written and verbal communication skills;
    •    Excellent attention to detail;
    •    A track-record of being a team player who can lead and be an exceptional contributor;
    •    Strong work ethic, attention to detail, good time-management skills and the ability to work to a deadline;
    •    Post-secondary education is a must;
    •    A love of music and radio is essential;
    •    Given the nature of the role, an ability to be on-call and work off-hours will be periodically required; and
    •    An ability to occasionally work evenings and/or weekends during concerts and other fundraising initiatives.

    Manager of Donor and Volunteer Relations

    Manager of Donor and Volunteer Relations

    Key Role Responsibilities/Activities/Deliverables:

    The Manager of Donor and Volunteer Relations will play a leading role in constantly improving our relationship with two of our most critical stakeholders:  donors and volunteers.   Quantitatively, the result of these efforts will be demonstrated in our fundraising revenue and donor count reports.  Qualitatively, the result of these efforts will be measured by a sense that our donors and volunteers are aware of their incredible value to JAZZ.FM91.  

    The Manager will oversee the general fundraising department.  The Manager will ensure that every interaction our donors and volunteers have with JAZZ.FM91 is a positive one.  While not necessarily an expert in databases, the Manager will be able to oversee the Database Administrator to ensure that reports are being generated on a regular basis.  The Manager will use these reports to ensure that donors do not lapse, donors are thanked appropriately and that we have fulfilled our obligation to donors.  The Manager will also launch a donor loyalty program and ensure it is appropriately administrated.  We offer a number of incentives to donors, including our flagship Live-to-Air concerts and our Jazz Safaris. The Manager will oversee these events.    The Manager will ensure that our ability to provide a mutually beneficial experience for volunteers thrives.  The Manager will continue our efforts to offer a robust volunteer rewards program.  

    The Manager has a team of coordinators reporting to him/her.

    The Manager reports to the Head of Fundraising and Corporate Partnerships.

    Fundraising Activities (70% of time)
    •    Create a culture of quality customer service and donor excellence that will lead to increased donations.
    o    For example, ensure donors are contacted before they lapse; create donor communications to create excitement about the station, its mission with an ultimate purpose to increase donations; appropriately thank donors for their contributions; remind donors why they contribute.
    •    Manage fundraising and volunteer components of on-air campaigns including, prizing and incentive planning, volunteer and staff scheduling, prizing, print materials, etc. 
    •    Manage events that result in fundraising revenue, such as Live-to-Air concerts, and Jazz Safaris.
    •    Conduct donor cultivation during JAZZ.FM91’s events to identify prospects and to further develop relationships.
    •    Implement and administer the Donor Loyalty program.
    •    Build and maintain effective working relationships with other departments and fellow key staff.
    •    Other duties as required.

    Volunteer Management (25% of time)
    •    Develop a program that mobilizes the volunteer community to support and celebrate world class jazz and the arts.
    •    Develop strong relations with the volunteer community to achieve a clear picture of volunteer interests and skills capital, and to leverage volunteer interests and skill capital – developing and overseeing the implementation of a volunteer engagement plan that drives the goals and activities of the station (working with volunteer governance structure/Committee Chair).
    •    Engage a broad range of volunteers including high school, university, and graduate students who are looking for volunteer and career development opportunities.
    •    Create a volunteer program so the station has a pool of ambassadors who are able to assist, as needed, at events. 
    •    Manage volunteer team including ensuring all roles have clear duties and responsibilities, defined accountabilities and regular performance feedback.

    Tax Receipting (5% of time)

    •    Oversee database administrator to ensure tax receipts are issued in a timely and accurate manner. 

    What we are looking for in a candidate:
    •    At least five years of work experience in a philanthropic role;
    •    At least two years of experience managing a team;
    •    Exceptional customer service and/or donor relations experience;
    •    Previous database experience, preferably Raiser’s Edge;
    •    Solid written and verbal communication skills; 
    •    A track-record of being a team player who can lead and be an exceptional contributor;
    •    Strong work ethic, attention to detail, good time-management skills and the ability to work to a deadline;
    •    Post-secondary education; and
    •    The ability to work evenings and/or weekends during concerts and other fundraising initiatives.

    Head of Fundraising and Partnerships

    Job Description

    You will be responsible for maximizing fundraising revenue and for developing new sources of funding through individual and corporate partnerships.

    Key Role Responsibilities/Activities/Deliverables:


    As the Head of Fundraising and Partnerships, you will be responsible for overseeing fundraising, including our general fundraising, intermediate and major gift donors.  In addition, you will maximize sponsorship and partnerships and will develop new revenue opportunities.  You will manage a Fundraising team, which includes one manager and a team of coordinators.  You will work independently and co-operatively with all related departments (sales, programming, promotions, etc.).

    With at least ten years of experience in a not-for-profit organization and/or the broadcast industry and/or corporate sales, you have a track record of creating, implementing, executing and measuring strategies for acquisition, renewal and upgrade, reengagement and stewardship.  Your portfolio includes evidence of the impact you have directly made to campaigns and other projects. 
    You are able to demonstrate that you can see the big picture, but are not afraid to roll-up your sleeves. 

    You will be an ambassador for our station as you build relationships to grow and steward donors, partners and other stakeholders.  You will also offer your team leadership, vision and direction as you focus on meeting operational, strategic and financial goals.

    We anticipate you will spend your time as follows:
    •    25% -- General Fundraising;
    •    25% -- Intermediate Donors;
    •    25% -- Major Gift Donors;
    •    25% -- Corporate Partnerships. 

    What we are looking for in a candidate:

    •    At least ten years of work experience in a philanthropic role, preferably with a combination of advancement and development;
    •    At least five years of experience in a leadership role;
    •    Experience in both the profit and not-for-profit sectors;
    •    Previous database experience, preferably Raiser’s Edge;
    •    Solid written and verbal communication skills, including developing and presenting a case for support;
    •    Excellent attention to detail;
    •    A track-record of being a team player who can lead and be an exceptional contributor;
    •    Strong work ethic, attention to detail, good time-management skills and the ability to work to a deadline;
    •    Post-secondary education; and
    •    The ability to work evenings and/or weekends during concerts and other fundraising initiatives.
