Marketing/Promotions Intern
This intern will provide assistance in the implementation of marketing, event and promotion initiatives for Canada’s Premier Jazz Station, JAZZ.FM91. This position reports to the Promotions Manager.
- Provide administrative support to the JAZZ.FM91 Promotions Department for marketing contesting, sponsorship and event based initiatives.
- Contact and direct contest winners for prize fulfillment and manage promotional redemption spreadsheets.
- Tabulate and manage data entry of external contest ballots.
- Monitoring stat collection for contest and campaign performance evaluation
- Manage JAZZ.FM91’s Social Marketing sites (MySpace, Facebook and Twitter). Seed information regarding JAZZ.FM91 marketing initiatives to various on-line portals. Liaison with department managers to obtain content to effectively promote the station via the internet. Research and report information accurately and expediently.
- Represent JAZZ.FM91 at various station and community events. Set-up and tear-down event booth and signage. Interact with station listeners and the general public, anwser questions, distribute station promotional materials, and encourage people to enter ballots to JAZZ.FM91 contests. Evening and weekend work will be required.
- Gather and create weekly content for JAZZ.FM91’s weekly eNewsletter.
- Maintain JAZZ.FM91’s monthly events calendar
Audio Engineering Intern
Shadow a Broadcast/Recording Technician to learn the operation of the record centrals and broadcast studios. Has the opportunity for hands-on practice on the technical equipment. Does simple feed recordings and mixes. Candidates with technical experience and/or background preferred and a good ear for good music!
Fundraising/Development Intern
This intern will provide assistance in the implementation of fundraising activities for Canada’s Premier Jazz Station. This position reports to the Director, Fundraising and Community Outreach.
Provides assistance with following fundraising activities:
- Coordination and mail mergers for pledge reminder letters, renewals and rejects
- Mailing of pledge reminder letters, renewals and rejects
- Assist with direct mail solicitation – coordination of mailings
- Coordination and mailing of incentive and sales items on weekly basis
- Perform updates to donor files through Raiser’s Edge – address change, emails etc
- Contact donors to update information – addresses, emails etc
- Prospect research
- Sponsor research
- Assistance with filing
- Backup for membership and ticket line phones, as needed
- Backup to reception, as needed
- Assistance with prizing etc during fundraising campaign
Skills/Experience/Abilities:
- Competency with computer/software skills including database management (Raisers Edge), internet research, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to conduct mail merges
- Evidence of initiative, accountability, creativity, tact, and diplomacy
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Ability to work outside regular work hours if required
- Knowledge of, interest in jazz preferred
Website Intern
Under the supervision and direction of JAZZ.FM91’s Web Manager, we always seek both creative and technical wizards! Assists with writing, researching and updating news and feature coverage on the JAZZ.FM91 web site; assists in building web pages using Macromedia Studio and related audio and graphics tools; and performs routine administrative tasks. Interest in jazz news coverage and web technologies are encouraged. Experience preferred in writing copy for news and feature stories, and in web development. Experience required in HTML, PHP, and related applications. |
