JAZZ.FM91 is Canada's pre-eminent jazz radio station and an essential broadcaster of jazz in all its various forms, enriching the cultural, educational and community experience of our listening audience.
 
As Canada's only not-for-profit radio station dedicated to jazz, the variety and depth of JAZZ.FM91's programming have made it by far the most popular and innovative jazz station in Canada.  While the genre of music continues to increase in popularity, so too does JAZZ.FM91, with audiences growing across Canada and around the globe.  Presently, revenues are primarily made up of advertising, individual donations and events.  To help JAZZ.FM91 reach its next level in revenue development activities, the station is looking for an energetic, enthusiastic, innovative and entrepreneurial individual to fill the role of
 
Director of Philanthropic and Corporate Partnerships/Major Gifts
 
In this newly created position, you will be responsible for maximizing sponsorship and partnerships and for developing new revenue generating opportunities. Reporting to the President and CEO, you will work independently and co-operatively with all related departments (fundraising, sales, promotions, etc.).
 
With 5 or more years experience in a not-for-profit organization and/or the broadcast industry, your demonstrated expertise in building and sustaining creative Philanthropic and/or corporate alliances has provided you with a comprehensive understanding of sponsorship proposal development and pricing strategies.  As well, you are experienced in soliciting personal gifts from individuals at the major gift level.  Through the effective use of prospect and moves management systems, you have built and maintained meaningful corporate sponsorship relationships and Philanthropic partnerships and maximized individual donor opportunities.  A results oriented individual, you are a self starter with a proven track record of delivering on goals and achieving revenue targets.  Combining creativity with business acumen, you have successfully structured new and innovative sponsorship/partnership packages, and possess the superior presentation, written and verbal communication skills needed to deliver these opportunities.

JAZZ.FM91 is Canada’s only not-for-profit radio station dedicated to jazz and all its communities of interest. 

JAZZ.FM91 is entering an exciting time in our development.  We have come a long way with our website and have found ways to reach new listeners via the web with online streaming and our iPhone application.  Already a unique and well-respected all jazz radio station, we will continue to enhance our web presence and increase our listeners around the world.   

We seek an experienced and motivated Web Manager. The successful applicant is an individual who has an outstanding knowledge of web technologies and social media. Your creativity and knowledge of current technology will be critical to help us maximize our global audience. 

This position will be of interest to a hands-on individual who enjoys combining technical and creative skills to continually improve an already leading edge website.

Responsibilities will include:

•    Manage, maintain and enhance the station’s websites at www.jazz.fm and www.canadianjazzarchive.org
•    Increase website traffic and engagement through the development and execution of a web strategic plan
•    Manage/create website content with strong written and visual components; ensure content is up-to-date, informative and consistent with overall JAZZ.FM91 messaging and strategy.
•    Integrate search engine optimization strategies
•    Manage and monitor website budget
•    Work with Sales Department to ensure the delivery and maintenance of on-line advertising and sponsored properties
•    Work with Promotions Department to maximize use of social marketing tools and facilitate online promotional content
•    Work with Fundraising Department to facilitate online donations and awareness of educational and outreach programs, and support the station’s regular fundraising campaigns
•    Manage and report on the station’s mobile applications, including the JAZZ.FM91 iPhone App
•    Analyze website and streaming audio statistics and prepare monthly reports, and on an as-needed basis
•    Manage relationships with external vendors and content providers
•    Audio and video editing for podcasts and other online content
•    Recruit, manage and train website interns and volunteers

Qualifications:

•    Completion of related post-secondary training in multimedia design and programming or equivalent work experience
•    3-5 years experience in a creative, digital media, web-development environment, including at least two years as a Web Designer/Web Developer in a small, but complex environment
•    Excellent working knowledge of Joomla! or similar content management system
•    Excellent knowledge of OpenX ad server or similar platform
•    Excellent understanding of web site/application development; knowledgeable in best-practices site architecture, functionality, user-interface and interactive design; possession of necessary technical skills to perform all aspects of website design/development and maintenance
•    Excellent written/oral communication and interpersonal skills; able to work within a dynamic, creative and diverse group and deal effectively with staff, internal clients, external stakeholders and general public
•    Excellent  knowledge of (X)HTML, XML, JavaScript, CSS, and PHP
•    Proficient in web authoring and design tools such as Adobe Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Flash, Photoshop and Illustrator
•    Good knowledge of MySQL and database management
•    Good understanding of streaming platforms such as Windows Media, Shoutcast, Flash Media Server
•    Working knowledge of media content production tools such as Sony Vegas and Sound Forge
•    Excellent project management skills
•    Strong problem solving and analytical skills with proven ability to quickly analyze and understand the source code and configuration of an existing system
•    Ability to work independently or as part of a team
•    Experience in radio/media and/or with not-for-profit organizations is an asset
